| | Why we do what we do - Romans 15:15-16 …because of the grace given to me by God, that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:15-16 Last Sunday we looked the Seven Marks of a Mature Christian (CLICK HERE to see the message), and one of those marks was: The mature Christian knows WHY they do what they do. See, it's one thing to "do something," but it's something entirely different to do something with conviction, and conviction only comes when 1) We are doing something that has great value, and 2) We understand that it has great value. Think of the difference in packing a suitcase, and packing a parachute. If you're packing a suitcase for a trip, all you're concerned with is getting all of your stuff from one place to another. If you're packing a parachute, your very life depends on doing the job correctly! Saints, we weren't redeemed out of darkness and death to live careless, aimless lives… we were called to shine the light of Christ to the world around us. We were created to be the image-bearers of God in a dark and dying world. Each one of us have been given specific gifts and abilities, and we've been placed in a specific sphere of people that need to know about Christ. When we're willing to walk in the calling that God has given us as Christians, we have the opportunity to literally change the lives of the people around us FOREVER. In other words, WHAT WE DO MATTERS! For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 "Lord, help me to know that today I have been given a calling to be a light to the world around me, and help me to be intentional in fulfilling that call." Pastor Clay | | | | | | |
