| | Serve Now - Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 This Sunday I taught on yielding our bodies to the Lord as our reasonable service, and one of the points was that we should not let the fact that we're not perfect keep us from serving the Lord. If you remember back in Romans 8, we learned an important truth: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1 Christians we need to understand that when we accepted Christ, we received a FULL PARDEN for our sin. Jesus paid the price! That means when we stand before God, we will not be condemned for our sin. Now that doesn't give us license to sin all we want, as that would be trampling on what Christ did for us. But it also doesn't mean that we'll never sin again. When we do sin, God is faithful to forgive us. The point being this: If you wait until you have no sin in your life to serve the Lord, then you'll never serve the Lord! God isn't looking for perfect people to serve Him, He's looking for yielded people. God works through imperfect people, if He didn't, none of us could serve God! None of us would qualify! Believe it or not, I've found that serving God actually helps keep me on track in being obedient to Him. There have been many things I've said "no" to because I didn't want to hurt the cause of Christ. Don't wait till you've got it all together to serve Him, make yourself available now, and watch as God begins to work in your life through your willingness to yield to Him. "Lord, show me how I can serve you today." Pastor Clay | | | | | | |
